Plate & shell heat exchangers
A pack of round, fully welded plates inside a cylindrical shell. Plate exchanger efficiency at shell-and-tube conditions.
REF · PLATE-SHELL
When plate & shell makes sense
When conditions exceed what a gasketed exchanger can take, and a shell-and-tube would be too large and too inefficient. The welded plate pack works without gaskets while the shell takes the high pressure.
- High pressures and temperatures — including steam and aggressive media.
- Compact installation with a large transfer area.
- Two shell designs: welded or bolted.
Why Plate & shell heat exchangers
Wide temperature range
From −40 °C to +300 °C.
High pressure
Up to 40 bar — no gaskets in the plate pack.
Large flows
Up to 1000 m³/h and up to 500 m² of transfer area.
Aggressive media
Fully welded plate pack.
Bolted shell
The bolted version allows mechanical cleaning of the shell side.
Small footprint
Plate efficiency in a shell format.
Shell designs
The choice depends on the medium and the cleaning method.
Welded
Fully welded shell — maximum tightness at the highest duty.
welded
Bolted
Shell joined with bolts — access to the shell side for mechanical cleaning.
bolted

Gasketed plate heat exchangers
Plate heat exchangers that open up: a pack of plates and gaskets that is easy to service, extend and adapt when the process changes.
Brazed plate heat exchangers
Compact, sealed ParaBrazed exchangers in AISI 316L stainless steel brazed with copper.
